FOUR EUROPEAN TITLE HOLDERS FOR THE WKKA
Five students of the Martial Art Centre of Excellence, and the Welsh Karate and Kickboxing Association travelled to Worcester on the 10th November to take part in the World United Martial Arts Associations European Championships.
All these students train at the Martial Art Centre of Excellence, Cowbridge Road West, Cardiff, where they practise various forms of martial arts, including karate and kickboxing.
First up to fight in the points section was 10 year old Kyron Caddick of Barry and Kyron being the smallest in his category. Kyron was outstanding, fighting through his category to qualify for the final. Having to wait several hours to fight for the European Title Kyron eventually fought, but was unfortunately beaten by a much larger and more experienced fighter, having to concede to second place. Next time Kyron.
Next up to fight in the points section was Joshua Griffiths from Barry. Joshua stormed through his category to qualify for the final. Again Joshua had to wait to take part in the final, but the wait was worth it as he beat his opponent to take the European Title. But Joshua didn`t stop there, her went on to take the Grand Championship for 2007.
Third up to fight in the points section was Scott Goddard from Penarth. Again another outstanding performance seeing Scott soar through his category to qualify for the final, and another long wait to fight for the title. Well yet again Scott proved too strong for his opponent and took the European Title.
Last up to fight was Lewis Goold from Penarth. Lewis fought in the light contact section. Lewis is a newcomer to the Light Contact Category, and this was his first serious attempt at this level. Lewis fought superbly to qualify for the final. Another long wait but seeing Lewis achieve his goal in this section and taking the European Title.
